Commercial and Legal Uses for Infrared Scans

Tough to keep up with blogging when the kids are out of school! How is your summer? It's hot here in the Carolinas - makes me glad to know my house is energy efficient and the cool air is staying IN! (Yep, we thermographers scan our own houses too!)

We've talked alot about commercial infrared scanning, so I thought I'd write about something different this month. More and more I'm getting calls from construction litigation attorneys who are turning to infrared thermography as a tool that can be easily understood by jurors, adjusters, and arbitration mediators. You know the saying - a picture tells a thousand words.

So it is with an infrared scan. For example, a common reason for construction litigation is moisture entering the building structural envelope. You can't always see why - you just know you have a problem. An infrared scan provides a compelling picture of what the problem is.

If your building is not weather tight, infrared thermography can assess where the problem is occuring, and potentially why the problem is occuring. This information can be used in building a case against inadequate or not-to-code construction. Of coure, it can also prove construction negligence didn't exist.
